Totally new to DNA research
« on: Monday 06 April 20 14:30 BST (UK) »
We received my Husbands DNA test results from Ancestry this morning & to be honest not being the brightest button in the box I'm finding it rather overwhelming. There are two that look fairly good matches at 468 cM across 19 segments & 405cM across 17 segments that state 1-2nd cousins. The first one doesn't have a link on her tree, but the second has a distant relative that matches. All the other matches are 4-5th cousins & beyond. Please could someone explain what exactly this all means. I have no knowledge at all about DNA testing, but would really like to start learning about it. All advice very welcome, Thanks.

Ellenmai - If there are any specific queries, just start a new topic as there are lots of us on here who are likely to be able to help.

We were all new to DNA once!

Try watching some of the videos on youtube by Crista Cowan of Ancestry. She gives some good explanations of how to work with your results.
