Lindville Hospital, Blackrock Road, Cork
« on: Friday 10 April 20 11:32 BST (UK) »
I know this hospital closed in 1996, would anyone know where I would go to contact an Archives department for Patient records who was in this hospital from 1971 to 1972?
The patient was a close relation of mine who is now deceased.

Well you'd be asking about the HSE who are up to their eyes at moment with Virus...
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Sensitive personal records, such as medical records, are often closed for a significant period of time, e.g. 100 years.

I can't find the hospital in question but the Access paragraph on collections held at the NAI says medical information about individuals after 1900 are closed.
I would think it would be the same for all archived medical records.

end of page 7.

This is more modern, clearly there is a code of practice but don't know where to find the code for hospitals.

I tried to get records after my fathers death- he’d been there often between 1966-1979. The son of his doctor told me all the records had been burnt! The gouvernent had ordered the destruction of records apparently after the unsolicited use of EST on patients.
