1939 lost my Dad's brother help please !

1939 register looking for Richard Hardy b Jan 1919. Born Thornton Dale but also lived  York. No middle name . Just not there ? Can anyone help ? Many thanks

A thought - if he was in the Armed Services then he won't appear on the 1939 Register.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Any chance he's a redacted entry? It wouldn't show up when you are searching for those details.
