The 1851 census has them with 5 children, Elizabeth, 13, William, 11, James, 9, Alexander, 7 & Helen, 0, in Turriff

The 1861 census has them with 2 children, William, age 20 & Helen, age 10, in Turriff

James & Margaret married 14/12/1837, Cullen

Could not find a birth or death for an Edward Dick

James was not born in Aberdeen.  Both 1851 & 1861 show both James & Margaret were b Banffshire but were living in Aberdeen

You say both Edward & Helen were b 1851.  No Edward on the 1851 or 1861 entries so where did you get Edward’s name from?

Can you clarify exactly what info you are looking for?

hi there i am also researching the surname 'Dick' for my family tree on my fathers side.
i don't have very much information but this is what i have.

my fathers name is Terence Wilford who married Elizabeth (Liz), Liz's birth mother was Muriel, but Liz was adopted to a Helen Dick who had a son Ian Dick who i believe is still alive. (i have no contact info)

unfortunately both my grandparents have passed so i cant ask them for information regarding the Dick family.

i believe Helen died in woodend hospital Aberdeen - no dates
my grandmother Liz is buried next to Helen just outside Aberdeen - no clue where?

i believe Liz real mother Muriel was very cruel to her and Liz had to go to a children's home in Aubine , when the Dick family got a new home in lately Circle in Bucks burn Aberdeen they fostered my grandmother Liz.

Hi Emaa

Welcome to RootsChat  :)

Just reading through your post and there are some bits that are not clear to me.

Terence Wilford and Elizabeth were your grandparents or parents?

Were the family based in Scotland?

When approx do you think Elizabeth was born and was this in Scotland?

Do you know what surname she was registered under? Dick would have been her foster mother's (married?) surname.

Any ideas on approximate years for events?

I saw this death for example and wondered if it connected to Elizabeth:

ELIZABETH FINDL. WELFORD or DICK
Age 71
Mother's maiden name DICK
2019
195 / 121
Rosskeen

Could the Aubine you mention be instead Aboyne? There was a children's home in Aboyne called Craiglarach House. See www.childrenshomes.org.uk/AberdeenshireCC/

ELIZABETH FINDL. WELFORD or DICK
Age 71
Mother's maiden name DICK
2019
195 / 121
Rosskeen

There is a likely birth entry for this Elizabeth:

ELIZABETH FINDL. DICK
1948
168 / 1 / 1806
Aberdeen Northern District

Could Elizabeth have been taken in by extended Dick family?

A possible death for Helen Dick?

HELEN ANDERSON DICK or SIMPSON
75
Mother's maiden name STEPHEN
1989
321 / 72
Bucksburn, Abederdeen

There is a marriage showing that might connect:

HELEN ANDERSON SIMPSON and
JAMES DICK
1939
168 / 2 / 545
Aberdeen Southern District
