He should be in the Queen’s Honours list in the New Year.

Sir Captain Tom Moore

has the right ring to it.

If the donations keep rolling in Captain Tom could hit 10 million tonight.

       FANTASTIC ACHIVEMENT.

And the generosity of the donors is also a fantastic achievement.
Geraint Thomas has raised over £100.000 up to now with a cycling stint and there are numerous other local fund raising events. All in a time of hardship for so many people.
Perhaps it shows that people would be willing to pay more taxes to fund the NHS and social care.

I couldn't agree with you more Haywood!!! Even as a pensioner and have worked all my life with just time out for child rearing, I wouldn't be against a monthly contribution.

Well done Tom and all who gave so generously!

This is a wonderful achievement and really shows the generosity of the British people but - what will happen to this money?  I hope it doesn't get swallowed up in the daily running of the NHS (this should be paid by government funding).  I believe the original intention was to buy a gift pack for all the nurses and doctors at Captain Tom Moore's local hospital but it has obviously gone way beyond that.  It would be great if EVERY nurse and doctor in the UK received some of this as a gift pack as personal thank-you from the UK.

yesterday, the charity involved said that they were going to buy the gift packs but obviously £13m (as it stands now) will go much much further than that.
