Hi All
I am not sure whether any information can be found about a death that may have occurred in Italy after 1962.
Alured De Laune (sometimes recorded as Delaune) Faunce was born in Cootamundra, NSW, Australia in 1905 (although he often gives 1906 on records), parents Alured Tasker Faunce and Bertha Mary Catherine Everitt.
Alured served as an officer in the Australian Army during WWII and then served overseas with the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration and later the Food and Agriculture Organisation. He seems to have been based in Italy during his time with the UN.
I have records for Alured in Australia and I have found contemporary reports and later histories that refer to his service with the UN. I have also found a number of passenger records relating to his service with the UN, the last being a trip from Paris to New York on Pan Am dated 1962.
The 1962 passenger list gives his address as 16 Via del Vascello, Rome. I have also found "society column" items from the 1950s showing his daughter made two trips from Australia to visit him in Italy in the 1950s. I have not found any evidence his Australian wife joined him in Italy and he does not appear to be buried with her here in Australia.
I am interested in any information about Alured after 1962 including the possiblility that his death occurred in Italy.
(Note: The Faunce family regularly recycled Alured as a given and a middle name and De Laune as a middle name, and Alured was not the only Faunce to serve with the UN. There also a related De Laune family that often use Faunce as a middle name. A general Google search will give lots of hits that may not be the man I am tracing.)
