I managed to recover my certificate box from the stack of unpacked stuff. Chriss's exact birthdate in Rochdale was 21 December 1895. I share the thought that 1930 might be a little early to find him in Canada, his son (my father) having been born in 1926. It was the unusual spelling of the christian name that aroused my interest.
