Edwin PITT (born 1859 - Somerset). Looking for further information on parents

Yes, that was what I was meaning.

I am beginning to wonder whether the Somerset part is correct at all.  I also wonder whether Edwin may be listed as Edward?  There are lots of relatives with the name Edward.  I have also seen Pitt recorded as "Pitts" (for other family members).  Argh!

That one is 24, he has what seems to be a wife, Phebe Eliza 25, and two daughters Leonora and  Linda Annie.  No occupation or addresses.
They are Bounty Immigrants,

I think it’s a son, Leonard, and the daughter  Linda Annie

They do seem to be accounted for in Australia

Why do you think he was born in 1859?  The only death for an Edwin PITT in NZ has his age at 71 in 1922.

As Edwin does not seem to have married you will have to get a printout of the birth registration of one of his children which will give Edwin's age and birthplace.  His death certificate should have his parents' names if known by the informant, perhaps this is where the Edwin and Phoebe has come from.  You really need to see these documents for yourself.

I had seen that couple in 1881 census and wondered if it was him, that might be where the Phoebe came into the story. However, if they settled in Australia, not your man.

Thank you Debra. Gosh, yes! I think that is him.  That is definitely the date of his death - 13th of April 1922 - and it does make him 71 when he died!  That original post on the Ancestry page I was looking at must to be incorrect.  He must have been born in 1851.  Thanks also for the heads up re: the printout.  Will look into this.

And thank you "Mckha489"  and "heywood"  - That Australian/Queensland connection would make a lot of sense! That's probably why I have been having trouble finding them. The confusing part has also come as a result of Edwin (Phebe's husband) having gone by both 'Edwin' and 'Edward' at different times.  I just need to somehow confirm that they had Leonard, Linda Annie .. and Edwin (among others perhaps), and figure out how Edwin junior ended up in New Zealand.  I don't believe his parents ever settled in New Zealand - the assumption was made that they were still based in the UK.

Mmn Smith.

Clifton although in Gloucs, is part of Bristol which straddles Gloucs and Somerset.
