Trouble with Placenames
« on: Monday 04 May 20 00:50 BST (UK) »
good day all,

I've deciphered most of the record for Janet Jamieson but need help with the place names in parenthesis.

The transcription reads:

Dec 27 was born and baptized 8 January 1790 Janet Jamieson lawfully procrat between Mathew Jamieson and Agnes Mitchell spouses at (Crofthead Meadowhead of ___jack)

Please and thanks for the help :)
Crawford, Smith, Marr, Newton, McClement, and more :)

Thanks Gaffy, Mckha489. Does anyone know why there would be two place-names then?

Crofthead, Meadowhead of Auchmannoch

Yes, it is not ‘jack’. It is the capital S from the line below touching the word above.

Could Crofthead be the name of the house/property?

That would make it Crofthead (house or farm) in the village of Meadowhead in Archmonnach?

I should have been more precise in describing it.
