Marriage Record Deciphering :)
« on: Tuesday 05 May 20 04:25 BST (UK) »
Good evening all,

I'm interested in transcribing the record for Matthew Jamieson and Agnes Mitchell who were wed on Sep 19.

The columns in this record are / and what I've got transcribed are:

Man                    Abode      Woman              Abode            Proclaimed      Married
Matt: Jamieson     ???        Agnes Mitchell   Anachlin (?)    Aug 29            Sep 19

Please and thanks!
Crawford, Smith, Marr, Newton, McClement, and more :)

The 'word' given for them both is 'DO' - shorthand for 'ditto'.
So you need to go up to whatever is written above their line until you get to a place given.
Seems to me they are both of 'Machlin'.

Agree - Possibly both Machlin - which might be Mauchline  :-\  http://www.ayrshirehistory.org.uk/osa/mauchline.htm

Robert Burns wrote of the "Mauchline Belles" & would probably have known many of these folk!
