Mary Keefe 1838 Ireland
« on: Thursday 07 May 20 23:42 BST (UK) »
I was hoping someone may be able to assist in finding more out about Mary Keefe born around 1838 in Ireland, who married a John Cummings.  Im having difficulty identifying the area of Ireland she came from.  Ive attached a census record and was hoping someone may be able to decipher the handwriting and identify this please.  Ive attached the census to this post.

The below is the marriage registration information I have for Mary Keefe.  I would like to try and identify her parentage and if she had any siblings.  Her husband John Cummings born in birmingham is also proving a mystery but any help with Mary is greatly appreciated.  Thanks everyone

As you will know, the marriage certificate should give both fathers’ names which might help.

Here is one Baptism (Latin)

Others seem to be listed on Find my Past. Sponsors are often relatives and these are generally shown on Catholic baptisms.

No I can’t see one either but looked at one through dathai’s link.

1871 3124/ 73/40

Ancestry has transcribed the place as ‘Yester’. I can see ‘ster’ but not sure re the beginning.

Looking at Catholic records, Ireland there are 182 baptisms for Mary Keeff/e about that time so you need her father’s name at least to begin a search.

Family search has it transcribed as Ulster which makes more sense  ;D

Yes, I see that and tried to make it fit but whilst very likely still not sure. It is not ‘Yester’ though. It is quite feint. I would have thought it would be more specific but maybe not  :-\
