Helena Evans baptised St Thomas, Dudley 29 August 1824. Parents John and Hannah. Father's occupation Glass Maker.

Father's occupation fits with that given on the marriage details and Nancy is sometimes a shortened form of Hannah.

Thanks - I'm still confused! 1861 says that Nancy parkes is Ellen's mother. So are we saying that Helena is Ellen, that Nancy is her mother and that she remarried? If that is the case, is Ellen the same as Mary Ellen Judith Evans, shown as marrying Moses in 1840? Thanks

According to FreeReg the Moses Hughes marrying in Sedgeley, Staffs in 1840 married an Ellen Evans. Where did you get the other names from. Ellen can be a shortened form of Helena or Eleanor. I'd say you have the correct marriage in 1840 and if Nancy is Ellen's mother then she must have remarried but I haven't found a marriage yet.

Hannah Evans/William Henry Parkes Jun 1858 Dudley 6c 107

However I haven't a clue if it is the right Hannah Evans
