Vera Daisy Linford
« on: Saturday 09 May 20 22:21 BST (UK) »
My paternal grandmother was a Linford frpm Aston, so that I have a wide variety of Linfords on my family tree

Suddenly, on the maternal side of my tree Vera Daisy Linford, born Aston, 1913, shows up as having married a William Harold Boulton in Birmingham in 1936. She does not appear on my tree and a record search did no more than confirm her birth, mmn Cheshire, marriage and death in Birmingham, Mar 1991.

Please can anyone tell me where Vera Daisy fits into the Aston Linford family, for I find it unlikely, though not impossible that there were two unconnected families of that name in that area in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

All help much appreciated.

Keith

Cannot see any further Linford/Cheshire births on FreeBMD or
a marriage entry   ???

Have you found a Linford / Cheshire marriage to give potential parents names?

Thanks Ladyhawk.

The connections become more and more intriguing> My father was very friendly with the Kibby family but I never realised it went further than that.

1881 census return gives name as Cheshire. By 1891 it's given as Cheshirer, 23 Little Francis St., Saltley.

Samuel Kibby died Q2 1912, Aston.

Free search 1939 register appears to show no Henry with Fanny you would need to view to check if she’s widowed - it appears her married daughter Daisy and family are with her Daisy married Dec 1925

Birmingham C.B. Warwickshire
Fanny L Linford 1881
Daisy L Crawford 1899

Fanny’s death

Sep 1954   Birmingham    9c   296
LINFORD    Fanny L    age 73

There are quite a few Henry Linford’s on the censuses so difficult to know which might be the correct Henry that married Fanny you would need to check the m/c for his occupation and fathers name

I wonder if this might be Fanny’s second husbands death this is the only one that showed when searching FreeBMD for deaths between 1913 - 1939 Warwickshire

Sep 1919   Aston    6d   395
LINFORD  Henry    age 52

Possibility 1881 c  :-\
3, Gee Street, Birmingham, Warwickshire
Charles   Linford   Head   1844   Machinist Sewing (Shirt Work)   Birmingham, Warwickshire
Emma   Linford   Wife   1844 Birmingham, Warwickshire
Charles   Linford   Son   1865   Polisher (Artzn)   Birmingham, Warwickshire
HARRY Linford            Son 1866   Machinist Sewing   Birmingham, Warwickshire
Emma   Linford   Daughter   1868   Birmingham, Warwickshire
Selina   Linford   Daughte 1869   Birmingham, Warwickshire

The Charles and Emma Linford you've identified are my great grandparents and the Henry/Harry you identify was my grandmother's brother, who died in 1919. His first wife, Catherine Blackwell, died in 1910 so I think he must be a strong candidate.
