i have found on the 1861 census a sarah ann wagden age 10 born 1851 in hap workhouse lancs. i am having trouble finding anything out about this work house. could someone look up the name of wagden on the 1851 census for me.
her mother was mary ann wagden , i think thanks x ??? ??? ???

The chap's writing was awful. I agree with the H at the start - it resembles the start of House a couple of lines further down. Then I think we have "eap". Heap is in the Bury area, which ties in with mother's origins.

I think the age given in 1861 reads more like a 6, so it's unlikely she's in the 1851.

FreeBMD is still sparse around those years, so can't confirm or deny.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

THANKS , YES THE AGE DOES LOOK LIKE 6 BUT I CAN FIND HER IN LATER CENSUSES AND HER AGE TIES IN WITH BEING 10 NOT 6.
I AGREE THAT IT IS PROBABLY HEAP.

The 1871 Census Shows that Sarah Ann Changes her name to Robinson she was born in 1851 Harewood Lancashire  is this the Right Sarah Ann ?
