Mountsorrel Road - school?
« on: Tuesday 12 May 20 23:12 BST (UK) »
Could anyone tell me what school was on Mountsorrel Road, Quorndon, Barrow Upon Soar in 1881 please?

I have a census record stating that Amelia Higham, 14, (born 1866 in Birmingham) is a pupil at a school during this time.

Would anyone know if this was a boarding school perhaps? It seems odd to me that Amelia would be here when her family were in Birmingham. Her father was a wealthy fishmonger in Birmingham, and doesn't pass away until 1891. Amelia's mother passed away in 1879.

Many thanks

Looking at newspaper advertisement mentions of the principal (Miss Hawley), it would appear to be Charnwood House School.
