My Heritage DNA
« on: Thursday 14 May 20 11:27 BST (UK) »
I decided to load my DNA to this site, after a friend said it had been very helpful to her. I also started to put a tree up.
I had my first E Mail 3 hours later. From a lady asking me about "Bloggs" and we were connected. I have no "Bloggs" in my tree.
Logging on this morning and looking at my very simple tree, my great grandmother has a little yellow box with "Discovery". Clicking on this I find "Here is the Discovery that can add 40 people to your family tree:"
So simply put, can I add 40 names to my tree, that I have not checked? So this really is build your tree instantly....
Probably can now see why my friend thought it was helpful! :o

You could add them but check them all out first  :)

Be careful I have never had a group of so called relatives on My Heritage that were all correct. Some were but others could be from different families just added by virtue of same surname in the local area. I have repeatedly written about this in the comment box but nothing alters.

I have BMD certs., where possible, for my pedigree to back up my comments.

Oh I was not going to add them. I need way more confirmation than a click of a button. But just amazed at how simple it was if I were so inclined. I did check a few of the 40 and some were correct and some not.
I add comments to Ancestry trees all the time and very rarely anything comes of them. Some of my comments are still there years later!

Could I add that Ive never added any of their suggestions. Most of the Discovery lists are for those I already have on my tree or their offspring - some of whom are correct and some are way out.

I only have a direct line tree on My Heritage and keep my main one on my computer (with regular backups)

It functions the same as any other site that gives you hints. You need to review them carefully before you decide whether they belong in your tree.
