Yes she was born in Bishopsgate. I noticed that Louisa’s brother Benjamin Stripling and his wife had a daughter Mary Ann baptised at St Botolph, Bishopsgate in 1847. I had a look just in case this child might have gone to live with Louisa and become “Jane”, but in fact she died at only 3 months of age.

It definitely is a hard one!!
In the poems Thomas wrote while he was in gaol he mentioned Jane (and all of his children). They were put into an Orphanage after the murder happened. His poems are just beautiful. He was very remorseful and showed the love he had for his children. What I can't understand is why didn't some of the family take the children instead of them being put in the Orphanage?

Hi all, like a lot of others I too have spent some time drawing blanks on this. I know we are all trying to rule out any possible avenues regardless - until ? There's this marriage that to me is iffy!

22nd March 1874 St Bartholomew Moor Lane  (London City)

Rachael Jane Harris aged 22 Envelope Maker  12 Moorefields E6? Father Charles Harris -Brewer
James Dawson 35 Porter, 10 Moorefields E 6?  Father James Dawson.

Believe 2 sons born, George Henry 1874 & Albert Samuel 1876  mmn Harris.

If other's have gone down this route already then nothing ventured nothing lost in posting.

John

Cannot find Rachael in 1871, or any of family in 1881/91.

1881 - in Southwark. All born there apart from James. Children have mmn Harris

James Dawson    49
Rachel J. Dawson    27
Charles Dawson    3
Caroline Dawson

She remarries as a widow in March 1891. Father again Charles Harris

1891 census she gives pob as Bermondsey

Baptism

Rachel Jane Harris
Birth    10 Jan 1853
Baptism    1 May 1864     Saint Mary Mounthaw,London,London,England
Father:    Charles Harris
Mother:    Caroline Matilda

She marries again in 1898 - parentage and dob all consistent. Looks fairly unlikely to be "our" Rachel Jane

Thanks Mabel Bagshawe, I MUST remember to alter when searching from "exact" to sounds like and similar-lessons learnt. That missing A in the latter through me!!

STRIPLING, ANN
Mother's Maiden Surname: JONES
GRO Reference: 1847  M Quarter in EAST LONDON UNION  Volume 02  Page 225

That is the district for Bishopsgate in 1847.
Mention it as unexplained(?), and possibly no further sign of her :-\, but a James Striplin, mother Jones, was born up in Liverpool in 1845 (died soon after)

When and where did Thomas CORRIGAN die......do you have his death certificate.

It would be useful to see how this record accounts for his children.

What marriages do you have for Elizabeth, Harriet and Louisa CORRIGAN.
