Did he have any siblings? Can anyone remember any aunts or uncles?

There is a birth in Prestwich, June quarter 1920 which would fit re timing.

I think the family are to be seen without Thomas in 1939 but we are not allowed to share 1939 information. You could try that but unless you have marriage details it will not confirm anything.

Could he have been in army or navy at start of WW2? He wouldn't have been on 1939 Register if he'd already joined up.

Yes I your post afterwards Carole but had my doubts.

The death in Prestwich, if I have the right one, gives a birth date of 28th December 1920.
This man can be seen in 1939.

The birth registration is in June quarter 1920 which could fit a March birth. However, 1939 register shows someone else who could fit.

I left it, hoping that we might find out more about the family or details from the marriage certificate.

There is a tree showing Thomas b  June quarter with that death in 1985  :-\

Hi

There is a tree on Ancestry showing Thomas Waterhouse b Prestwich June qtr 1920.  Father Thomas & mother Agnes nee Fenton.  He died Dec qtr 1985 Bury

However - the death in 1985 in Bury shows a birthdate 28.12.1920 which in no way links to a June qtr birth reg ???  There is a birth reg Jan 1921 mmn Charnley which would fit better So will email the tree owner

The June 1920 birth mmn was Fenton and there is a 1919 marriage in Prestwich between Thomas Waterhouse & Agnes Fenton

Until you buy the 1942 marriage cert and establish his fathers name and occupation we can’t say whether that is the correct birth

Hi Heywood

I should know better by now than to trust info in family trees without checking  ::). Thank goodness you posted as it made me look up the 1985 death
