If it was him, he died of Broncho-pneumonia.

It says 46 on the record and 48 on the CWGC

family scuttlebutt has it that Andrew committed suicide ... which is why I am looking for his death details.

His wife gave birth to their son, Andrew Robertson Rennie ( the younger!) on Feb 8 1918 and our Andrew died on Feb 14 1918, after having made his will on Feb 8 ... see the probate index for 1918.

: )

a family mystery!

The probate will says he was a farmer of Jamestown by Alexandria in Dumbartonshire and he left his estate to his wife Annie Lindsay or Rennie..

a family mystery!

The probate says he died in Glasgow, do you know of a connection there? I have tried a number of searches on SP with just the surname and just the christian name but nothing seems to jump out. If it was suicide the Procurator Fiscal would have been involved which makes a missing death registration even stranger.

I checked quite a few newspapers to see if there was a report/obit but couldn't find anything.  However, I don't have access to all the Scottish newspapers, just the ones in the BNA.
