Thomas Tong/Tongue and Elizabeth ???
« on: Sunday 17 May 20 21:48 BST (UK) »
Looking for the parents of Thomas Tong/Tongue and Elizabeth Seer/Jeer/Teer?

I'm not sure exactly what Elizabeths surname is a various transcriptions give it as Teer/Seer/Jeer.

They marry 7th Oct 1746 Lilbourne, Northamptonshire. 'Thomas Tongue and Eliza ?? both of Haselbech in this county were married by Licence'
I believe that after this marriage Thomas and Eliza/Elizabeth move 6 miles to South Kilworth, Leicestershire and baptise their children there.

I can only see that a Richard Tongue, Grazier, has a will in Haselbech, Northamptonshire 1742. I'm not sure if this is the same Richard Tongue who is baptising 9 miles away at Rothwell, Northamptonshire.

Have you looked to see where these parish records are held?
You might want to consider putting this request on the Look Up Requests if you think they are not online.

Compare the first letter with other letters on the page. There are T's, J's and S's all handy.

The J is quite different. S is closer, but the top of the letter is much smaller. Which leaves T, identical to the T on Thomas Tongue, so you have Teer (Usually spelled Tear, so search for an Eli* Te*r)

Thomas and Eliza both say they came from Haselbech. There is an Elizabeth Tear baptised 1716 in Maidwell, very close to Haselbech.
