Thank you Hol, it sounds like they are related and Ingram is a family name, I'll try and work it out, I haven't heard the name before, it's unusual to me.
There's another census that young Ingram born abt. 1831 and died 1908, is missing from. I can't find the family in 1901. There is no sign of his child Ingram born abt. 1870 either, I know it's possible he got married by then as did the other siblings but father Ingram was still alive so should be there.

Thank You Gibel, I noticed that you found Ingram in 1901 in Silver Street as Farley.

I thought that maybe Mary could be the daughter of John Varley b1807 and The middle name is a tribute to her Grandfather Ingram Varley

Yes, I thought this and I have added Mary as John's daughter on my tree.

I know there is an 1869 birth entry for Ingram VARLEY mmn DAWBER

Could he be Thomas Ingram Varley on 1901/1911 census?

As yet I have not found a birth entry for a Thomas Ingram Varley on
FreeBMD, Lancashire BMD or GRO indexes only Ingram Varley  ???

I saw this a while ago and did wonder about it but was put off by the first name of Thomas.
He married a Houghton and I tried to find out her line as that's another surname on my tree, but so far haven't been able to connect her to mine.

I just thought that the Thomas had either been added because the son was getting confused with his father if they were both called Ingram or the son Ingram just wanted to be called Thomas or perhaps it was a confirmation name that he decided to use.

Thomas Ingram was buried on 1 April 1931 in the RC section of Lower Ince cemetery from Great George Street. Grave 564

If you google Wigan World cemeteries you will be able to see all the Varleys in Wigan Lower Ince Cemetery.

Thomas Ingram’s son John Houghton Varley was in the Coldstream Guards and died on active service in 1916.

Yes, thank you. I agree with Thomas being added as I too thought of the two same reasons as you. I have now added him to my tree and will also add his son that you found.
