Re the death of Samuel Oakes the only death showing in the groindexes in 1845 for someone of that name is in Westminster! A much more likely death is in the apr -jun quarter of 1862 in Madeley RD.There is a burial for him 9 June 1862 age 66. ( There is also a burial for a 12 year old Martin Oakes on the same page). The abode is given as Jackfield which is on the River Severn (Jackfield was badly affected by the floods earlier this year). He may well be showing as Samuel Oaks in the 1861 census although his age seems to be a little out ( it is however messily written) a widower with the occupation of Severn waterman. The residence is again given as Jackfield.
