Looking for burial of Edward John Rowles

Edward John Rowles was born on Wednesday, 16th September 1896 at Stoke Damerel, Devonport, the eldest son of Frank Edgar and Mary Alice Rowles.

In the 1911 census he is age 14 and living with his parents at 14 Turner Road, Canton, Cardiff.

He married Alice Maud French in 1924 at Merthyr Tydfil. They had 1 son.
Alice Maud died on 25th August 1988 at 18 Tyn-Y-Pwll Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff, age 87.

In the ‘1939 Register’ he is living at 18 Tyn-Y-Pwll Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff.
His occupation is given as ‘Gas Fitter of Cardiff Gas’.

He died on Wednesday, 24th April 1974, age 77.
His death certificate gives his last address as 18 Tyn-Y-Pwll Road, Whitchurch, Cardiff.

Can you find his burial or cremation.

You could contact Cardiff burials dept at Thornhill. They only have access to the computerised records at the moment (ie no detailed registers) but should be able to tell you if he’s buried in one of the council cemeteries, possibly Thornhill itself. And who is buried with him.

Just give them his name and date of death, and ask if his wife (or anyone else) is with him.

Was there a death notice in the paper, might give funeral / burial details.

Have you found his wife’s burial?

Did you ask Cardiff about a cremation?
 
Maybe he’s buried in a local church burial ground.
