Paul, for the period you are looking, Drumchapel was in Dunbartonshire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drumchapel

Would it be classed as New Kilpatrick though, within Dumbartonshire?

https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=14&lat=55.91351&lon=-4.38445&layers=5&b=1 seems to suggest that Drumchapel was indeed in the parish of New Kilpatrick.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
