Thank you Sandra and RJ137 for all this information
I have a wee bit extra to add that I have found myself ;D ;D
William Porteous husband of Annie Forsyth died in 1898 in Midlothian he was 57 years old.
I also discovered in my notes another two children to them
William born in 1888 in Midlothian on family search I found his marriage to Jessie Elizabeth Isles on 1st July 1916 in Warren Ohio and his death on 11th Feb 1963 .
They had a son William D Porteous who died in November 2006

I have searched for a daughter of William and Annie's born on 8 July 1883 in Midlothian
Euphemia  Porteous  no middle names and no death or marriage for her in Britain.

Could she possibly have gone with them ?

Thanks once again
