I think Thomas has another brother, George, also living in Woodford. This would tally with the newspaper item from 1839.

George and wife Maria can be found on the censuses in Woodford. On the 1841 census they have a Mary Radley, age 5 (born c1836), with them. However, there's no obvious baptism for them having a child named Mary at this time, so could this be Mary Ann Radley, the daughter of Thomas & Mary Anne?

Marriage:
married: 09 Mar 1828; Wanstead; banns
groom: George Radley; otp; bach
bride: Maria Parish; otp; spin
witnesses: Henry Samuel Rallum? Dowson?, Sarah Dowson (x)

Baptisms - St Mary the Virgin, Woodford
01 Mar 1829 - George Radley; parents: George & Maria; Woodford Bridge; Blacksmith
09 Oct 1831 - Mary Ann Radley; parents: George & Maria; Woodford Bridge; Blacksmith
10 Sep 1837 - Jane Radley; parents: George & Maria; Woodford Bridge; Smith
26 May 1844 - Arthur Radley; parents: George & Maria; Woodford Bridge; Blacksmith
03 Oct 1847 - Martha Radley; parents: George & Maria; Woodford Bridge; Blacksmith

GRO references:
1837 Q3 Birth: Jane Radley (mmn: Parish); West Ham; 12; 201
1844 Q2 Birth: Arthur Radley (mmn: Parrish); West Ham; 12; 301

Looking for David & Elizabeth Radley, likely parents of Thomas, it looks like David died in 1828 and Elizabeth died in 1852, both in Woodford.

Burials - St Mary the Virgin, Woodford
30 Mar 1828 - David Radley; age 67; Woodford Bridge
28 Mar 1852 - Elizabeth Radley; age 89; Woodford Bridge

Elizabeth (age 75), with Jeremiah Radley (age 40) and Mary Radley (age 9).

Looking for Jeremiah Radley, likely brother of Thomas, it looks like he married in 1845 and died in 1878. And his marriage gives us the occupation of father David.

GRO reference:

1878 Q2 Death: Jeremiah Radley; age 81 (born c1797); Romford; 04A; 103; [FreeBMD=Radley, GRO=Readley]

Marriage
married: 08 Nov 1845; Holy Trinity, Barkingside; banns
groom: Jeremiah Radley (x); fa; bach; blacksmith; Woodford
bride: Sarah halls; fa; spin; -; Barkingside
grooms father: David Radley; blacksmith
brides father: Joseph Halls; labourer
witnesses: Henry Halls (x), Elizabeth Walter?

Burials - Holy Trinity, Barkingside
29 May 1878 - Jeremiah Radley; age 81; Barkingside

Jeremiah & Sarah, plus children

hi cuffie81,

again: wow ! thank you so much for all this information.
I was wondering who Charlotte was and where child Mary Jane was (aged 5) in 1841.

Looks like my ancestors lived mostly in Essex: Woodford, Chigwell, Writtle (Windley, Wilson, Bradley, Gosden, Halls).

thanks again ! Have a nice weekend !

Wilson: Writtle Essex, Shorne Kent.
