Perhaps it says South Cerney?

Yes, I can see that but have no idea who she was.

As far as I am aware, Martha CUSS never married. There is a possible marriage to a Richard ARCHER, but I don't think it is her, as she was buried in 1798 under the name CUSS not ARCHER.

I suspect that Martha had several relationships, resulting in at least 3 children: Dinah b 1787, Mary b 1790 and Thomas b 1796. The father is not mentioned in any of the baptism records.

Mary DOWDESWELL sounds interesting. Earlier on in the thread one poster states that he is descended from the DOWDESWELLs.

Several people in Cricklade have a Alias name I have noticed.  Also Martha may not have married but lived with a Dowdeswell and Mary took his name.
I have several connections to a few of the discussed surnames at Cricklade. It was a fairly busy small town.

Yes, I can see that things went on!

I have written to the Cricklade Museum seeking clarification, since they were the ones who originally pointed out that Mary CUSS was the natural daughter of Morgan BYRT and married JORDAN.

If it wasn't for that document, I would probably have accepted that Mary married Stephen Hinton in 1814.

It's possible.
They seem to have ended up in Lambeth.
Last baptism there is of son Stephen, 22 July 1827.
Abode Vauxhall. Father Laborer.

Nothing on that to indicate Mary is deceased, but a burial at Kennington Lane, Upper, Vauxhall Chapel
15 July 1827
Died 7 July 1827
Mary Hinton
Age 36 years
Residence Vauxhall.

I think a couple of their children (Maria, Eliza) may be buried at the same place.
So Mary may have died as a result of childbirth?
Looks like Stephen Hinton remarried in Camberwell, but once or twice (1828, 1836)

Will do. Hopefully Cricklade Museum will get back to me in the not too distant future. I assume that they did some decent research before publishing their factsheet on Morgan BYRT.

Greaves:

My nephew Pete BOWN had uploaded his DNA on Ancestry - not sure if it's under Peter BOWN.

My HEWER (alias Rodborn)

William HEWER married Sarah KIBBLEWHITE (of Preston, Gloucestershire) by Licence - 26 March 1808, at Holborn, Middlesex, where the KIBBLEWHITE were at Gray's Court - but were from Wootton Bassett (quite a story).  A number of the KIBBLEWHITE married in London.

Wootton Bassett was a 'Rotten Borough' where people were placed to enable votes to be cast to get the KIBBLEWHITE into Parliament, hence my times Grandmother was christened there.   Her father William HEWER died very early and Sarah remarried in Wootton Bassett with the KIBBLEWHITE's as witnesses (by Licence)

Her elder sister Jane HEWER was born in London.

I've got Jane HEWER's marriage certificate - she married quite late in the same Church as my x Grandmother

12 April 1843 - at Mersey Hampton - (father: Wm HEWER, Farmer)

witnesses: Thomas and Ann HEWER

----

Just a brief outlined - but I do have quite a lot of documents.
