Well there you go. Peter BOWN and I share 8cm or 1% DNA, which makes Peter and I 5th-8th cousins!

Welcome to the family. If you ever research some of my ancestors, you will almost certainly resent the relationship. Far too many were utter rogues.

If Peter wants to search his contacts, tell him to try S D V Berry or Steve Berry.

I’m going through my very complicated Hewer folder.

John Hewer’s Will of Meysey Hampton and Alvescot Oxford,  (13 March 1839) mentions his Wife Sarah and Jane Hewer of Wootton Bassett (my x Grandmother’s Sister).

I was born in Swindon and my Dad (born in 1906)  said we were related to the Arkells Brewery and way back one of them married a Hewer and Jane COLLETT (nee HEWER) is living with the Arkells on a later census.

Just to note that the Cricklade Museum have not been very helpful. They asked me to send them the document I downloaded from Ancestry, which I duly did. But nearly a month later and I have not received even an acknowledgement, let alone a reply.

I ,just say that I am rather disappointed in their lack of response.
