Mike in Cumbria, is that the one near Ravenglass ?

Should have been coming to Cumbria next week :'(

I go every year more than once, I have family there.

There seems to have been several programmes and dramas filmed in the Lakes on tv during lockdown. They make me both happy and sad at the same time.

It’s my home from home   :)

Had problems early on getting bread flour....but now Lidls had good supply of strong white bread flour so all good...
They now have all types plain and SR too and cornflour which I was scrapping the barrel for...
Not tried anywhere else as have C & C for most items...
Someone mentioned in a post somewhere on here a while ago about getting fresh yeast from a bakery ...
So now I buy fresh yeast from our local bakery and their grannery flour as OH is the bread maker and he uses half white strong half granary...

There seems to be more strong white around than strong wholemeal but, like others, I've managed to get both from  specialists.

I'd held off making a loaf with my last bag of strong white bread flour.

Instead to conserve flour, I've only been using it to make pizza bases (every two weeks or so) by mixing strong white bread flour with semolina. The semolina (which is still flour after all) has a coarser texture and it makes it easier to get the pizza on and off the pizza stone in the oven too.

With this new bag of white bread flour, I'm planning on making a loaf in my Pullman Loaf tin.

I only had a problem getting flour during the idiotic panic-buying phase.

And I only buy local flour from Laxey Flour Mills.
They had problems at first switching production from bakery/restaurant sized bags to 1kg bags, but that's all fixed now.

Flour of any kind has been like gold dust here in the city in the last couple of months.

My daughter had run out last week and it was not available from any of well known supermarkets. We had gone to our local pet shop for some doggie treats and there is a little corner shop nearby. Popped in and they had loads of bags of flour from Poland at £1 a bag. We took a bag of plain and a bag of self raising for her to try and her verdict is excellent.
