a site ! grandfather owned  a shop from 1914-1925 in Cardiff.

Alternatively, when and where was he born have you found him in any Census?

Thanks for the reply, have tried www. historialdirectories but have found
not more than an address. Trouble is I have been trying for 2 years and
have only just established he was from Yorkshire originally and with a name like Brown.....say no more. Thanks again. tgw

Try a post on the Yorkshire Board if you think he was born there - tell us everything you do know about your Grandfather...

When was he born - who was his wife - did he have children -any other family members - if he was a grocer c1914 he must be somewhere in 1901 ?  OK his name was Brown, but we do have some very clever and persistant Rootschatters.

Hi,

Dont have much except he was born in Yorkshire(gained from 1901 cencus)
His age based on the cencus and marraige cert gives him at born between 1871-72    the cencus ony says yorkshire no area.married my mother in cardiff in 1897, emma maud, Fathers name was joseph ,shown on his marriage cert as farmer.
Had two daughters my mother in 1915 Irene maud and gladys in 1899.
As you can imange brown isnt the easiest of names.Have his the marraige and Irene mauds birth cert but doesnt give any more info. Have sent for cert
between this range but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.tgw
