Diary > Sunday 7th June

Where is everybody??
Shall I start?

A bit warmer today, but we thought we better have a clean around before SiL comes to make an inspection.  Good job she spurs us into action now and then.  ;)

Started to map a family tree branch, on the computer. I can draw them by hand quite easily, but doing them on the computer is so difficult when everyone has 7 or more siblings.

Visit from SiL, distanced and balcony doors wide open. Some inevitable discussion as to the probability of a second covid spike, and I must say I am surprised that the numbers have not yet started rising again. Also some discussion about our funeral arrangements. Of course I do understand why SiL is in that mode, but it doesn't really help levity at all.  :-\

After tea took a walk around the lakes. Few people and a pleasant evening. A flock of long tailed tits chittering around was lovely to see.  Rescued a large and hairy caterpillar from the centre of the cliff path. H said it was a moth caterpillar looking for a place to pupate.

Watched the last episode of "Killing Eve"..... what an extremely bizarre concept it is!

I made a Sunday Roast for lunch today. Roast chicken, with roasted carrots, parsnips and of course roast potatoes. Oh, and mangetout - they escaped the roasting. I put some baking potatoes in the oven too, for tonight's tea.

Caught up with my online newspaper sub - lots to read on a Sunday.

We went for our walk from our house. I managed to not step in a cow pat today, which was a bonus. We heard the milking machine running as we passed the dairy farm. Not too many people walking about today, but it's been quite a pleasant afternoon a fair bit warmer than Saturday.

Baked potatoes with tuna, cheese and salad for tea.

Our neighbours have been busy putting up hanging baskets. Very smart they are too. I hope they remember to water them.

I mended (or pimped up) a garden solar light with some hotglue. I love using hotglue. Any excuse, I'm there gluing something. Mind you I love soldering too. Oh, and baking. Oh what fun.

We watched "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory" on the telly, it just happened to be on. I thoroughly enjoyed it - with fond memories of reading it as a child, and "Charlie and the Glass Elevator" too.

Later we watched another episode of "Twin" which is a Nordic crime drama - it's subtitled, but after a while I don't really notice I'm reading the subtitles. It's a very gripping drama.

We haven't deserted you Mowsehowse!

It's so nice to have visits from family isn't it... even if your discussions were not on a very cheery note!
I hope you're going to manage to sort your tooth problem today...
You were luckier with the weather as ours was pretty grim... I did think I'd do some washing but decided I'd only be draping it round inside which I hate and is bad enough in winter let alone summer!

Being a Sunday ( I know this because the papers were on the door mat) it was paper reading morning!..
the paper has got thinner over the weeks and I've almost given up reading the main paper as it's too depressing.....
All those terrible demonstrations ( not the topic but the behaviour of people) if that doesn't create a spike I don't  know what will....
Very sad to see a statue in Bristol being pulled down ...different times..
We had two games of scrabble and I won both... just so feeling pleased as gap is narrowing!
Managed to get hold of Sky and try to sort out the issues they've created but it's not an easy exercise... we wait to see when they call us back... I'm not holding my breath..
Had a message and picture from daughter.... grandson had finished the 1000 jigsaw all by himself wouldnt let any one else him... well done sent him little video and hope to catch up today with him today..
Dinner was roast chicken.. just what we needed on a chilly evening...
Even turned the heating on for an hour...
Watched Killing Eve.... strange programme but ending with the possibility of another series.
That's the sum total of our day which didn't amount to much!

Hope others have had a better one!

All I can say is I was appalled at the behavior of these people over the weekend, some of these might well go into the Govt, God help our country, as if the Govt hasn't got enough to deal with right now, it angered me, not the topic as Caw1 said but their behavior

I had so little to report that I thought it was best to let someone else start.

Chucked it down all day again, finally stopped late afternoon. Really wanted to go for a walk but I don't have any wellies so I would have been knee deep in mud. Well that's a bit of an exaggeration but it was definitely too wet for me.

Did some housework, those mind blowing things like wiping down the kitchen cupboard doors. Made some pasta sauce, I like to add some cherry tomatoes, I'd ordered extra in my supermarket delivery, had overdone it a bit so used up some of them. Ended up having tea earlier because I wanted to eat some of it!

Watched a couple of episodes of Portrait Artist of the Week, a friend had told me it was on.

So glad we had such good weather previously, things have been hard enough without days like this. Good to hear you got out Mowsehowse.

Day did not start off great, had a run in with neighbour's grumpy friend when I was hanging out first load of washing.  He offered to cut my grass and I said "no thanks, I'll get round to it" and he said "but when? it's a flipping mess, a f***ing disgrace, and so are you playing at getting stuff done while lazing about".  I flipped and all my stress came out and I told him where to shove his opinion.  Feeling tearful even now.  I know I need to do more and am judged against higher standards than proper people but I'm tired, sore and there are not enough hours in the day.

Didn't get any of the garden done, by the time I had done 3 loads of washing, cleaned the bathroom, dusted and vacuumed the downstairs, washed the downstairs windows, washed the dishes, cleaned kitchen units, mopped the floor, checked on my mum, helped my daughter with her maths and chemistry, made dinner, washed up again I was too lazy to start on the garden and still haven't managed to get paint locally.

Made tacos for dinner which the girls enjoyed.  kept threatening rain throughout the day but it never came to anything, still quite muggy though.

"Every day"? Sheer madness to attempt that, each day. The anxiety that drives you to do it is not your friend. You're wearing yourself out. Make time to enjoy life. Quentin Crisp declared that after 4 years the dust stopped appearing to get deeper, and yes, that would be a bit much, but every day hardly gives any the chance to settle. You deserve to rest, when you get home from work, as well as do all the work you give yourself to do.

_And Trystan, I too love my hot-glue gun. It's amazing the things it comes in handy to sort out. I wouldn't be without one, even though I've specialist adhesives for almost every task and repair possible.
