Not too sure what you require.

Have you traced this family back from 1901? Which census records do you want??

Hi bjd:

STENSON:

Census 1881:
Birchwood Lane, Alfreton, Derby, England
FHL Film 1341817     PRO Ref RG11    Piece 3416    Folio 122    Page 34
Head: Wm. STENSON , M age 26 b. Breaston, Derby, England, Occ: Striker
Wife: Ruth STENSON,  M age 23 b. Belper, Derby, England, Occ: Striker Wife
Dau: Mary Ann STENSON age 3 b. Heage, Derby, England
Son: Ma.William STENSON (sic) age 1 b. Heage, Derby, England
Father: John STENSON, W age 51 b. Shardlow, Derby, England, Occ: Striker

Note the daughter named Mary Ann, could be named after her grandmother.

The Head/son William's birth appears to be on IGI.
Born 27 May 1855 Breaston, to John STENSON and Ann.

In turn, John's marriage may  to be on the IGI as:
John STENSON, son of William STENSON, married 14 Nov 1854, Breaston, Derby
to: Mary Ann HOOD.

A Mary Ann HOOD is on IGI with a birthdate to match the Mary Ann on 1861 Census a posted by Tricia:
born 27 Oct 1833, Breeston, Derby to William HOOD & Mary.

(Note: IGI also has a birth of a Mary STENSON to a John STENSON & Ann in Breeston 1858 - could be named after Maternal Grandmother)

FreeBMD has a John STENSON marrying:
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/
Dec Qtr 1854 Shardlow, Vol. 7b  Page 613.
There are more grooms than brides, so either FREEBMD has not transcribed the page with the missing bride or has done so in error (but can't locate a marriage that period for a Mary Ann Hood ) or - it's not your John - but it could well be.

FreeBMD is incomplete, but 1837 Online should have the full entry, though it costs:
http://www.1837online.com/Trace2web/

Hope this helps some.

Hi bjd

LANGTON:

FREEBDM has the following Marriage:
Mar Qtr 1848, Belper, Vol 19, Page 348
LANGTON, George
to one of the following brides: methinks the first:
BRENTNALE  Mary
MEE Ann
POUNDALE  Lydia
SMITH  Ann

There are 2 births in right timeframe for Rebecca LANGTON, who was aged 5 on C1851: - I lean toward the 1846 one:
Births Mar 1846 - LANGTON Rebecca     Belper  Vol: 19, Page 439
Births Mar 1845  - LANGTON  Rebecca    Basford  Vol: 15, page:471

One of them may be to a Rebecca mother, with her surname.

So you may be looking for Rebecca 1st wife dying between 1846 and 1848, if indeed George was a widower when he married Mary.
But can't locate her death on FREEBMD. Or their marriage for that matter!

There is a death of a Rebecca LANGTON in 1841 Belper. Though, if this is her she must have died very soon after a marriage and the LANGTON dau Rebecca age 5  then named for her but not of her?  and possibly George & Mary were producing children before they married.....oh the fruits of an (over?)active imagination ;D

Census
I think, that the 1851 Census data posted by Tricia, with the area ref #2145, is for the area of Alfreton in Derby, and Alfreton is sub District of Belper.  Consequently, George LANGTON may be on C81 in Alfreton as follows (do you know if he was a plumber by trade?):

Dwelling: Riddings in Alfreton, Derby, England
FHL Film 1341817     PRO Ref RG11    Piece 3417    Folio 52    Page 6
Head: John BRADLEY, M age 67 b Alfreton, Derby, England
Wife Sarah BRADLEY, M age 65 b Alfreton, Derby, England
Lodger: George LANGTON W(idower) age 58 b. Alfreton, Derby, England, Occ: Plumber

Not as clear a result as for the STENSON family, but could well be him. Dau Rebecca could be in same area in 1881, married to a PERKINS.

Cheers
