Spidermonkey my friend thanks you very much for the court case records. He is so thrilled and most grateful to you.
He had heard that she had been conned but didn't know the story, so he's very happy today.

He also thanks you chempat and redroger for your help too.

Not a problem at all - it was absolutely my pleasure.

Would your friend like us to look into previous marriages?

From information that was given for the 1939 register, Phyllis M Trenery gives her date of birth as 29 June 1897.  Over the top of that, at a later date is written another birth date: 29 - 7 - 1898.

Working back from that, there is a marriage Mar qtr 1926 in St Martin reg district, between a Frank T Trenery and Florence M Lawson.  The marriage took place on Feb 16th 1926, after banns, at St Martins on the Field:
Frank Trerytham Trenery / 33 / Bachelor / Timber merchant / 18, The Crescent, Phippsville, Northampton / Frank Trerytham Trenery / Timber merchant
Florence Maud Lawsoon / 30 / Spinster / No profession given / 41 Craven St, WC / Edward Lawson / Farmer.

Witnesses: J T Cobly (?) and S A Trenery (mother, I think)

Frank Trenery is single in 1911 and shown to be with his parents in Wellingborough.

If we assume that Florence/Phyllis is accurate with her father's name, there are 2 potential Florence Lawsons on the 1901 census - one in Lancashire and one in Lincolnshire.  It is only the one in Lincolnshire that is a farmer.

Farm, Helpringham
Edward Lawson  Head  Mar  38  Farmer bn Little Hale, Lincs
Betsey Lawson  Wife  Mar  34  bn Not Known
Mary J T Lawson  Dau  11
Beatrice Lawson  Dau  9
Ethel May Lawson  Dau  7
Florence M Lawson  Dau  5
John Thos Lawson  Son 3
Edward Lawson  Son 1
All children born Helpringham

If this is the correct family, then things sound rather turbulent.

A couple of years later, Betsy is in trouble with the police for apparently shoplifting but is the case all that it seems?
