Not sure if they are Mayoh or Blackwill

Hi. This photo was given to me by my father and has told me they are his grandparents. Which side of the family I am unsure off. Could anyone give me an approximate date to maybe give me the clue I need. There is no photographers mark and the paper is very thin. One set of grandparents were in Bolton, Lancashire, the other Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire. Any help would be very much appreciated. Many thanks

Not good at guessing periods but somewhere between 1860 and 1920, just like on Antiques Roadshow.  I sorted the blemishes and turned up the Hue / Saturation and there was existing colour in your original, so here it is, uncoloured by me, that's a bonus, cheers, Ian

I would suggest 1920s. and they look to be in 70s.

Do you know whereabouts in Bolton the family lived.. Bolton is quite an industrial city, but it has lovely country around it. If we had an idea of where they lived it may  give a clue to the house in the photo.

Sorry nothing factual with saying Gloucestershire, just an impression from looking at the people.

Pat has a good suggestion about finding whereabouts they lived.  If we had an address from a census or something could look for the street and old photos etc
