PM sent.
That reminds me of M in Law.
Stew- she made dumplings and I did not see her put them in ,so said “ where are the dumplings”?
“ Oh, down at the bottom somewhere”
They were, leaden ,heavy and tasteless .
But her family knew no better and they loved her food.
But when her nicest looking son and I got married ,I had a problem, n9 way was I having dead dumplings!
He bit used to light ones and and light pastry and home made cakes but I never bettered her egg custard tarts .
She was a tarter but a good Mim and as my daughter said she was impossible sometimes but she brought her children up to be in the case of the boys, true gentlemen , my sisters in laws and I agreed on that.
So what were a few leaden dumplings against that.
Best wishes with the cabbage water.
Viktoria.

My mother never did the boiling the life out of cabbage thing but I must admit cabbage was the thing that she really struggled to get me to eat. When I was an adult she told me that she'd once put it in a stew, told me it was spinach and I ate it. Well I can remember that, I knew it was cabbage but I couldn't taste it because it had absorbed the flavours from the stew, that's why I ate it! I never disillusioned her though.

Mowshowse, glad the Youtube video was enlightening!  :)

Just eaten my evening meal, Yorkies not bad but I like Auntie Bessies ‘better.
Mine did not  exactly  fluff up, but not heavy.
My recipe says flour,no indication re SR or plain.
So being a culinary genius I did half and half.
Just made six in bun tins.
Some batter left for tomorrow .
Or to freeze.
Cheerio .

I did think that but then thought ,no “ lift” ,so did the half and half.
Wonder what Auntie Bessie uses? They are light .
I must say Mum’s were really heavy but not unpleasant and so tasty as she used the lovely stuff in the roasting tin .
She left the batter to stand for hours ,as I did , but her oven was the one at the side of the fireplace and I doubt that would get the fat smoking hot.
But we liked them
Thankyou Roobarb.Goodnight.

Just listening to Classic FM,Eric Satie’s Gymnopedies,so calm and relaxing .
Sitting in the garden, doing nothing ,first  Gymnopedies  then Ashokan
Farewell.
Anyone  a bit stressed will find the Gymnopedies very soothing especially 2 and 3.
I must get on with something.

But a guitar piece now, I know it from a John Williams record but can’t remember the name .

I’ll just listen to it THEN I WILL get on!

Just listening to Classic FM....

The Classic FM playlist at https://www.classicfm.com/radio/playlist/ suggests it was Seville (Sevillanas) by Isaac Albeniz.

You can click the Preview link for most items on the list, but this one wasn't working for me.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Many thanks I will get out my record , I played that piece so often
in the past I can diddly dum it to perfection.
I also love Recuerdos de la aAlhambra,Tarrega.
I imagine Katherine of Aragon who lived there for a while, languishing in cold Ludlow Castle after Prince Arthur died ,her Father Ferdinand did not pay all her  dowry and Henry Vll was not going to give any back so she was six years until HenryVlll married her.
She must have yearned for the sunshine of Granada and that beautiful palace.Iknow the music was not written in her life time but it is very sad and yearning comes through.
Thankyou for the information.
There is another piece it could be ,Rodriguez “ Fantasy for a  Gentleman”
Which shows the changing taste in music in Spain from stately to much livelier.
Thanks everyone.aviktoria.
