I wonder if the adoptive parents wanted her baptised before they took Lily under their wings? Can't find Lily for sure in censuses yet, adoptive father William Thackray is a boarder in 1901.

Lily could use either surname - officially Wright but Thackray elsewhere

The deeper we dig the more complicated it seems. Wish I knew someone who had later relatives to trace back for certain. Will keep on trying and let you know when I find anything else.
