Marriage Record
« on: Friday 19 June 20 19:39 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help. I'm looking for a marriage or birth of a Thomas Basseley Clements who was buried at St Philips, Birmingham 27 March 1832 age 33 and was living in Bristol Street. I am wondering if he could be the Grandfather to a Thomas Bestley Clements born 1862-1862 and Walter Bestley Clements 1866-1947 both born in Birmingham to James Clements and Clara Arrowsmith Clarke. Thank you.

The marriage of James Clements and Clara Arrowsmith Clarke should tell you who the grooms father was.

Double check baptism for James

Have you looked at trees in Ancestry for suggested fathers.

The marriage of James and Clara gives Thomas as a veterinary surgeon.

On 1851 census James and Clara were living at Aston/Duddeston.

On 1841 the 2 most likely James's have fathers still living.

Have you decided which is your James in 1841?

Clara Arrowsmith (of Sawley Street, Duddeston Aston) was born on December 23rd 1832 and baptised February 13th 1837 at the Baptist Meeting House, Cannon Street, Birmingham.  Just for background.

Several families have lots of children baptised at same time.  Clara is on her own.

Thanks everyone. I know about James Clements & Clara Arrowsmith Clarke and family, but I cannot prove which James Clements is which. Yes the marriage does state his father is Thomas Clements a Veterinary Surgeon but if Thomas Basseley Clements who died in 1832 is his father would James really have known his father's name & occupation, very frustrating.
Thanks again for your tips.

Unless his entire family were wiped out by a freak accident at the 1832 funeral, then I'd expect at least one family member around to be able to tell him his father's name and what he did for a living once he reached adulthood.
