Theatre managers : FITZER dynasty
« on: Sunday 21 June 20 12:32 BST (UK) »
In 1930 75 year old Max FITZER
left a dynasty of theatre managers
In New York
3 of his 4 sons and a son in law
Mitchell FITZER of the Rivoli
MOses FITZER of the Empire
Joseph FITZER of the Swan
+ Jacob KARP of the Cameo

How can find out which of these theatres Max managed ?
The Empire opened around 1890.'s
Rivoli in 1817

https://archive.org/details/movingpicturewor51july/page/98/mode/2up?q=Fitzer
 - 1921 edition of Moving Picture World, states that the Happy Hour in Syracuse was run by Max Fitzer, assisted by two of his sons (Benjamin and Mitchell), when it opened in 1906.

https://archive.org/details/movingpicturewor51july/page/136/mode/2up?q=Fitzer
 - same edition - Max and Mitchell Fitzer to erect a three-story theatre and office building at 218 West Fayette Street

A snippet on Google Books suggests the Happy Hour Theatre, at 224 North Salina Street, later became the Swan and still later the Midtown.

Try this link for the book:
https://books.google.com.au/books?id=_PIgS-Xl93wC&pg=PA32&dq=%22Happy+Hour+Theatre%22&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjfha770bDqAhXgxzgGHVa2AKcQ6AEwAXoECAMQAg#v=onepage&q=%22Happy%20Hour%20Theatre%22&f=false

Are the archive.org links still not working? If you just search "Fitzer" within the book a few pages should come up.

Thank you .
The last link worked
I see that the Arcadia had films suitable for children
+The Rivoli introduced talkies in the 1920s

The first links still show as unavailable.

Fascinating world  .
