Is there a way to serch parish records for the name of the sponsor/witness? If so, which site allows you to do that?

Thank you,

No. That information is not searchable on any site I have used.

Transcriptions for baptisms only give details of the child and parents so you can only search using that info.  You have to access the actual baptismal record to get any other details

The 'Search by County' option on the 'RootsIreland' website allows such searching.

The church records on Irish Genealogy will give witnesses of the searched name with in the results, doesn't cover much of the country though.

The 'Search by County' option on the 'RootsIreland' website allows such searching.

So for baptisms / births, the additional search fields you can use are:

- Sponsor 1 Surname
- Sponsor 1 First Name
- Sponsor 2 Surname
- Sponsor 2 First Name
- Parish / District (drop down selection)
- Townland / Address

At least one surname in any search is mandatory, so it means that you can input a sponsor and search solely on that, without specifying the subject of the baptism / birth or the parents.

For marriages, the additional search fields are:-

- Witness's Surname
- Witness's First Name
- Parish / District (drop down selection)
- Townland / Address

You can input a witness and search solely on that, without specifying the bride or groom or parents.
