I've found the marriage and viewed copy of certificate on Ancestry :

Joseph Wright full age   Carter       son of William Wright, labourer
Ann Williams   full age                   dau. of Joseph Williams, woodman

married 29/8/1875 St. John's Church, Manchester.

Witnesses  - Ruth Howard and R. Howard.

Why they married in Manchester I've no idea unless both had gone to work there where they met.  Clearly they then returned to Shropshire where Joseph became a gamekeeper by the time his first child baptised in 1876.

Thanks for that Annette. I had seen it earlier on FreeBMD but hadn't seen the full details.
What I have found for Joseph Wright born c 1845 is this possibility on the GRO index birth
Joseph Wright Dec 1/4 1845 registration district Wem and Whitchurch vol 18 page 191 mother's maiden name Williams
Is the mmn Williams a coincidence or were Joseph and Annie cousins?

I took a break to walk the neighbours dog Gadget and it poured and blew a gale!

I am going to have to write down all we have found so I make sense of it.

The same family in 1841? Ages of those15 years and over appear to have been rounded down to the nearest 5 as required in the 1841 census only.
