His her husband Archibald Armstrong?

To help others looking is this your Jane Armstrong nee Anderson on the censuses in
Cumberland & Ovington Northumberland

1841c Ronney, Bewcastle, Longtown, Cumberland with Archibald

Jane Born Cumberland

1851 c Park Longtown Cumberland - husband Archibald

Jane Born Parish of Lanercost

1861c Ovington, Hexham, Northumberland - widow
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7JL-F78
Jane Born Whickham Durham

I think you have two different families here.

The Jane born Whickham, in Ovington in 1861, with son Joseph and daughter Isabella, both born High Callerton, is also at High Callerton in 1851
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SG6K-RVF
and 1841 (it's clearly the same family in 1841, but her birthplace entered as Northumberland.)
There is also an Anderson there in 1841, but not noted on FS.

Edit Just spent ages looking for these so I'm posting it anyway complete with links!
Hope you don't mind William & John  :D I know it duplicates what you've said. :-[

I note, Jon, that the baptism of a younger sister Elizabeth Anderson  29 Dec 1811 does actually give the abode of Whickham for John Anderson.

Hi
That's a good spot. Does it mean that John Anderson was a native of Whickham?

I guess we don't really know where exactly that particular Jane was born, and her baptism is quite a bit later. So she might have been born in Whickham (or thought she was!)

It may well mean that, John although one difference between the two baptisms is that on Jane's, Anne Welch is said to be daughter of "John Welch of No. Britain" ( i.e Scotland) while on Elizabeth's John Welch is said to be of Gateshead.
