Mental Health Nursing Training Early 1900s N.Z.
« on: Friday 03 July 20 16:20 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find out more about mental health nurses training in the early 1900s in New Zealand. I have done a fair bit of searching on the internet with not much to show for it.
My grandfather emigrated to New Zealand and worked and trained as a nurse in a mental hospital. I have his certificate and he is No. 195 on the Register of Mental Nurses on the 31st March 1914. My grandmother also worked as a nurse but didn't complete her training. If anyone has any advice it would be great to hear from you. I specifically wanted to know the length of training and if there are registers available. I have got a lot of information from the NZ Gazette . Luckily my grandfather kept his registration certificate.
Regards
KK
