Help making out names
« on: Tuesday 07 July 20 18:54 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

Many years ago when I ordered a marriage record for my 3xGrt Grandparents William Murphy and Margaret Fagan, I was told the paents for each were Patrick Murphy and Elizabeth McClure/McClune and Patrick Fagan and Ellen McGovern.
This information was straight from the paish register where both parents were written down.

I have just found the record on Ancestry and the brides mother seems to be different,

Can anyone help make out the name as best we can please?

Many thanks in advance

Hi

I thought it looked a bit like Annie Corr if I'm honest. Then again I originally thought it looked like Corn haha

Where did you order the record from? Were you given a transcript or a verbal report? Obviously not a photocopy or you would have seen the results as you have on ancestry.

I agree Anne/a Corr.

I ordered the record off Emerald Ancestors and they gave me a transcript of the marriage details and then as a sidenote they gave me the details of both sets of parents. No photocopy of the actual marriage.

It is written ...
Filia Patritii Fagan et Annæ Corr
which is Latin for ... Daughter of Patrick Fagan and Ann Corr.

Thankyou all for your help with this.

I am also pretty certain the the grooms parents are Patrick Murphy and Elizabeth McClune and not McClure.

With any luck I may now be able to locate a marriage between either of the groom or brides parents.

As it was a transcript you received, then it is fairly certain an error was made at their end.
