Given that her birthdate on the 1939 register and on her death reg are the same - there is this birth reg

Irene Dawson Sept qtr 1910 Keighley 9a 189  - mmn Harris

There doesn't appear to be any known links to Keighley, albeit her death. Her family were known to be of Leeds origin. I tried to follow the Keighley Irene and the trail went cold with the hints to her father George Dawson. Or as mentioned in 1911 John Thomas Dawson as father the birth date changes to Jun 1909

I seem to recall this Irene's links leading to the Scarborough area, my Grandma Irene was married to the same person for 69 years and lived in the same house from 1930's until she died in 2006 which was in Ilkley

So what year and quarter did you request and the RD?  All three pieces of information are vital to get the right certificate.  If you used Sep qtr 1910 Vol 9b page 473 Leeds RD then that's the certificate you get.

Presumably you didn't actually know where she was born?  Perhaps her Mum went back home to her mother to have the baby and that is why the birth was not registered where you expected.

Thank you, it might help me locate who Irene's wedding witness Maurice ( or Minnie ) was and give an insight into a George Dawson too, so long as they're pre 1900's, can't be many Maurice Dawson's out there around 1910.

There is always the possibility she wasn't born Dawson - perhaps her mother married George later and she took the surname?

George married to Beatrice Fanny was b c1896, so not Irene's father
