Thanks for those.

I don't have the b/c for Annie who married in 1883 though from her mothers marriage soon after her birth to Charles Northage I can see how the Charles Chambers as father could have come about.

I'd tried census, remarriage, burial, newspapers and immigration for Charlotte and drawn a blank.

The Allen surname appears in my tree with Retford connections, it may just be a coincidence but the Northage name seems to appear in Worksop, Retford and Gainsborough so who knows, it certainly seems that Charlotte dotted back and forth between Lincoln and Worksop, Retford isn't off the beaten track for that.

Wow, there I was trying to look at a couple of bits and 4 more replies including Coldron references.  It all ties in but it's all news to me that she went overseas.

Looks as though Charlotte's son John (c1853/4) first married Emma Wale sq 1873 Worksop He marries as John George P (Paul). Appears on 1881 uk census with wife and 4 children then follows his mother to the United States c1889. Emma 1st wife with him in 1892 but died berween then and 1900 census

I reckon the whole family hired a boat to themselves. Annie Naylor nee Chambers/Northage are on the 1900 us census as well, struggling to attach link though.

I'm struggling to find them, over the last few days I've done heaps on the Chambers family after a breakthrough and the head is spinning.  The John 1853/4 isn't even in my tree as I hadn't looked at him at  all.

John appears on the 1861 census in the same household as his Grandfather George and his mother Charlotte and Ann/Annie. In 1871 John with his grandparents George & Sophia.

Well found trish1120, I guessed there was an Elizabeth Hannah sq 1855 Lincoln no mmn as there was a big gap between John in 1853 and Mary Jane in 1857 ( Mary died aged 6 in 1862 Lincoln)
