JANTON in Runcorn is actually IMISON
« on: Wednesday 24 August 05 18:10 BST (UK) »
Hello

Has anyone noticed that the 1861 enumeration of RUNCORN has an anomaly when it comes to the JANTON family?  In fact it should read IMISON.

Christopher IMISON is corrected but the other names in the SAME household are NOT shown as corrected.

Has anyone else noticed this?

JANTON is a name elsewhere in the census but here it is wrongly transcribed from the ORIGINAL.

As Christopher Imison is a direct relation of mine, I had particular knowledge which led me to search into the minutiae.  The handwriting may be unclear but it is certainly IMISON.

I hope this helps everyone.

Best wishes
IMISON

Have you notified the census transcriber?

Hello Pauline

If you look there, you will see that Christopher Imison had already been altered.  BUT when I tried to notify their board moderator [?] I got a message telling me they had already been notified.

So it is somewhat strange because there will be people who will not realise the position.

Best wishes
