Am I following this correctly
Isabella Wilson born 27.05.1904 parents John Wilson & Martha Petty.

Then, John Wilson son of Walter Wilson..

If so where did you get his fathers name as Walter as when he married Martha Patty he stated that his father was not known

ADDED Where do you have the family in 1911.  That census entry should state the number of children Martha has given birth to.

Hi that is correct and something I cannot understand that John left Martha shortly after marrying her and returning to his father,

This is how I see things:-

John Wilson M. Martha Petty in 1899

1901 Census shows them living at North Street, York.

1904 Isabella Wilson Born.

1911 only find John living with his father in Tadcaster and single?

I cannot find Martha or Isabella Wilson on any 1911 census returns?

Thanks

Where does the information that Johns father was Walter come from.

ADDED.  John son of Walter is at home with his father in 1901.  John father of Isabella is with his wife Martha in 1901 so surely two different people

The name Walter came from my Grandmother before she passed away in 1995 but she couldn't tell me anything about her dad (or wouldn't say for whatever reason).

So wants taking with a pinch of salt then.  ;D.    As her father did not name a father when he married Martha it is possible he was illegitimate.

When did your grandmothers parents split up.

I now see your point about John being in two places, so it would seem they're two different people.

As I don't know when they split up there is of course another possibility, John would have been old enough to have enlisted in WW1 and could have been killed during this period of unrest before the 1911 census, as i cannot find Martha (Wilson or Petty) & Isabella Wilson on the 1911 census I'm now totally Lost?

I presume that you have Martha on the 1939 register, how does she describe her marital status.
