Lillian McCulloch, Turner, Woolliscroft

Hope someone can help me find out more about my dads cousin Lillian McCulloch, born in 1888 the illegitimate daughter of Sarah Wallace Barr McCulloch.

The last I can find of her is on the 1911 census where she is living with her Aunt,  Frances Lawson (nee McCulloch, sister of her mother).  Lillian was living at 8 Saxby Street Pendleton Lancashire.

I have looked at Marriages, and deaths and the 1939 census for Lillian,  either by McCulloch or her step fathers name which was Woolliscroft but cannot find her.

I know she had two half brothers Thomas Woolliscroft (who married a Hila Bassinder or Bassender) I believe they had  two children Irene Woolliscroft who married a James Turner, who had at least one daughter named Jacqueline Turner.  The other half brother was Leonard Woolliscroft he married an Mary Annie Brennand, (I cannot find any children)  I checked all their records to see if I could find any trace of Lillian to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

No mention that her aunt and the other McCulloch on the 1911 were both born in Scotland as was her mother.  SP has her birth in 1869

Have you checked Scotlands People in case Lilian went to Scotland after 1911?

Do you have evidence that all those folk you have mentioned are deceased? If not you need the remove their names, as per RC policy.

Are you sure you have the correct step-brother Thomas married to HILDA. See births next post.

Thank you both for getting back to me so quickly, sorry i have taken so long getting back to  you both.

The details I have for Hilda Bassinder/Woolliscroft differs to yours JamJar.  I have birth 23/10/1901 and your email says 28/08/1902.  I have her death as 2001 and the email says Sept 1969.  I got my birth details for the birth from the 1939 register, where they lived at 58, Old Broul, Mossley, Lancashire, England, and my death details from England & Wales Deaths, GRO Indexes, 1969 - 2007, but I may be wrong.

The details I have for Thomas Woolliscroft is birth  24/03/1900 and his death I have as Q/E Jan 1985, your reply says birth date 5/12/1890 and death 1971!! 

If you can let me know where you got your information from, I could check to see which are correct.

I agree the following:
census for 1911 for Lillian McCulloch living at 8. Saxby Street, Pendleton, Lancashire, she was living with my great Aunt.

The 1901 census for
John, Sarah and son Thomas living at Thomas 4 Back Bury St, Heywood, Lancashire.

The 1911 census for Thomas living with his Dads brother at 7 Stamford Street, Millbrook, Stalybridge, Lancashire.

The 1911 for Leonard living with his Dads sister and her family at 15 Stamford Street, Millbrook, Stalybridge, Lancashire.

I believe this was due to their mother dying in 1908.

I also have their two siblings Arthur and Sarah who died before they were one.

Sorry CarolW but I think I agree with JamJar on the death of Lilian in Truro, IO do not think this is my dad's cousin Lillian.

I have checked Scotlandspeople and cannot find Lillian moving back there.  So my next thoughts would be, she either joined the forces and possibly died in the war, or, she could have emigrated.  I know her Aunt Frances died in 1928.  I am eager to see the 1921 census next year to see if she was still living with Aunt Frances in 1921.  Any help either of you could give me on these avenues would be fantastic.

I agree with you Maria when it comes to Hilda and Thomas's date of birth and death, working from 1939, where the daughter mentioned above is with them (apart from Thomas being born on 26th not 24th). There's a probate entry for Thomas - died 7 Jan 1985, address Old Brow, Mossley, Ashton as per your info from 1939

It was my typing error I should have had the 26th not the 24th for Thomas's Date of Birth.  I have requested a copy of his will to see if this can give me any more information.

My main search though is for Lillian McCulloch (my dad's cousin and thomas's half sister), don't know of you can work your magic on her as I am hitting brick walls.  all her details are in my previous emails, but if you need anything else please let me know.
