It was the name Bernard McNamara which caught my interest. An Irish ancestor of mine was born McNamara. She was living in Preston, Lancashire, 1860s onward. Her previous life is a mystery.  A teenage lad called Bernard McNamara was shot dead in a riot in Preston in 1842.

My McNamara's came from the west coast of Ireland, Westport area, County Mayo.  Came to Liverpool in the 1840's because of the Potato Famine.
