He doesn't have a grave, only named on a memorial.

Suspect the two rifle grenade hits took its toll, hence no grave

Thanks Colin

The newspaper article in 1944, says they have 5 sons, 4 Sons-in-law, and a grandson in the forces

Peter was 25 in 1915 at time of wedding. If grandson was 18 in 1944, puts his birth at 1926 ish.  If his father was 18 when he had him, puts Son as having him approx 1908,  so some additional considerations there

Hi Don

Possibly.  If Peter / Isabelle are the parents they were married in Aberdeen.  Peter is listed as staying just off of George St Aberdeen, and Isabelle in the city Centre

In 1925, he may have stayed at 65 Hardgate Aberdeen, then noting in Valuation Rolls until 1940 when he appears at Shanquhar at Gartly. The Local press in 1940 mentions staying at Birkinhill Gartly, and in 1944 Shanquhar

When George died in April 1944, his age was recorded as 19 - www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2071434/GEORGE MARTIN/

There is a birth for a George Huntly in 1924 in Huntly (searching for a birth in Aberdeenshire between 1924-26). There is another one, a George Alexander but if your George had a brother Alexander maybe not?

There are a number of Martin births that could fit in Huntly with the names you have listed for the brothers.

Why do you think father's name could be Peter?

There is for example a family in Huntly, John Martin and Jane Hall who married in Huntly in 1908. May well be the John listed in that 1891 census entry that Colin posted earlier in Huntly.

Need more details really to be able to narrow down further at this time...

Peter/Isabella Adamson Walker Wilson seem to have remained in Aberdeen up until their death.  On Peter's death reg the informant was J Fleming daughter and this Peter did have a daughter named Janet so I'll "assume" its one in the same.

However, there is no Alexander born of a Peter 1900-1919 in Aberdeen nor a James, John or William 1915-1919 born of a Peter.

You are going have to go after George's Attestation papers to find out who he belongs to or wait a few years and pull his birth from SP when the 1924 births become available.

You newspaper article stating sons and grandson definitely points to another much earlier family than Peter/Isabella.

I agree Don.

I think you have this Alan but just adding here re John Martin, son:

Pte. John Martin, Gordons, belongs to Huntly and his parents reside at Birkenhill Cottages. Gartly. Pte. Martin is married.
Aberdeen Weekly Journal, 12 Sept 1940

There are two possible births in Huntly:

1908 John Martin
1911 John Reid Martin (I think this John is son of John Martin and Jane Hall as the name Reid comes up connected to John Snr.).

John Reid Martin married in Cairnie to a Margaret Pacitti in 1932...a possibility.
